Volunteering
“We do not do this work out of charity, but solidarity”
The Baobab Centre would not be able to do the work it does without the support of our committed volunteers who give their time and their skills so generously.
All our volunteers are fully integrated within the work of our teams and are welcome to participate in all staff meetings and community activities. Just like our staff they benefit from the full support of the Baobab Centre.
“My friend told me about Baobab and the work she did there seemed important and much needed, so I got in touch, received a warm welcome, and joined in. After the second time I volunteered here, I recall walking home with a spring in my step, happily wondering when I had last felt in such high spirits. I remembered with a smile that it had been the week before, after my first encounter with Baobab, and with the wonderful young people and staff members who animate it.”

We are always looking for new volunteers to join us, and will arrange to meet and interview all prospective volunteers – so please see our Jobs and Volunteering page for more details about existing opportunities.
“I was initially interested in volunteering after hearing about the exceptional work the centre undertakes and reading several fascinating articles written by clinicians at the Baobab which had been assigned in my pre-clinical psychotherapy course. In my role conducting service evaluation interviews, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with some of the young people who use the Baobab’s resources. Meeting these individuals and listening to their stories, even for a short while, has been immensely rewarding and provided valuable insight for both my personal and professional life.”
