Baobab Research: join our research webinar for Refugee Week

Join the Baobab Centre & U. of Bielefeld on Tuesday 16 June 5pm (UK time) for a Refugee Week online webinar presenting exciting new research mapping young people’s social networks.

Baobab Webinar – Exploring connections and help-seeking: A social network analysis study with unaccompanied refugee young people in London

This webinar will be exploring Vikki Touzel and Leonie Bernhörster’s research on help-seeking, social connections, and support systems among unaccompanied refugee young people in London. It will share insights from a social network analysis study and open up discussion on what the findings mean for practice, policy, and care.

The study was conducted at Baobab over the last six months with input from young people and clinical and casework staff. It explores who young people who have arrived unaccompanied as minors to the UK see as their friend, where they find support, and who they trust, with stark findings and suggestions for future research. It also explores power dynamics within interviews and research and their impacts on methodology.

Hosted as a collaboration between the University of Bielefeld and the Baobab Centre, the event is part of Refugee Week (15-21 June) and aims to create space for learning, reflection, and exchange between researchers, practitioners, supported young people, students, and anyone interested in refugee wellbeing and support.
