Goodbye X/Twitter, hello BlueSky

To all our followers, patrons, funders and supporters:

We have decided today that we will not be posting anymore on X/Twitter. We have opened a BlueSky account where you can now follow us: @baobabsurvivors.bsky.social

To avoid identity theft, we will keep our X/Twitter account opened for now. But we will not post, nor engage in any discussion, on X/Twitter anymore.

Our decision comes as the owner of X becomes a full member to a government that is explicitly, and violently, anti-refugee. X’s owner has also in the past posted clear anti-refugee sentiments.

By encouraging engagement on X we would be indirectly contributing to augmenting his wealth — in effect funding an anti-refugee political movement. Out of respect for the community of young asylum seekers we work with, we cannot in conscience accept this anymore.

From today, we will continue to advocate for unaccompanied asylum seeking children and help inform debates on the many challenges they face in the UK by joining the conversation on BlueSky. We hope many of you will follow us there: @baobabsurvivors.bsky.social — or on our Instagram platform or Facebook page.
