Casework Advocate
A few words about me
For the past 25 years I have been advocating for and supporting people who might have otherwise been ignored, to have their voice heard. The first asylum seeker I worked with was 5 years ago. The person was a young man from Eritrea who really opened my eyes to what asylum seekers go through. Through this experience I decided I wanted to contribute to change for the way in which asylum seekers and refugees are treated in the UK. Baobab is just the organisation I was looking for.
What does your role at Baobab involve?
I provide casework support for issues with education, training, employment, housing, the law, health (mental and physical) and addiction. As an advocate I offer support to help the young people to express their views and wishes and help them to stand up for their rights.
What is your desert island book or music?
Beethoven’s 7th Symphony.
What 3 words would you use to describe Baobab?
Passionate, determined, effective.
