Published: Baobab’s Monitoring & Evaluation reports for 2023 and 2024
2 Apr 2026
Our latest Monitoring & Evaluation reports for 2023 and 2024 document the psychosocial wellbeing of Baobab members and evaluate our Baobab’s impact.
Across both years, young people reported consistently high levels of depression and anxiety, often exceeding those found in comparable refugee studies. In 2024, 69.7% of participants scored in the moderate-severe range for depression, while nearly half showed moderate-severe anxiety.
But the findings also show what makes Baobab unique: nearly every young person reports that our psychotherapy, casework and community activities have a profoundly positive impact.
In 2023, 95.8% of young people said they felt a strong sense of belonging at Baobab. In 2024, satisfaction with services reached 22.6 out of 24, with psychotherapy and casework described as “very helpful”, “life‑changing” and “a very big help”.

The findings reinforce the urgent need for stable housing, mental health support, early intervention and trauma‑informed services for unaccompanied minors.
We will continue advocating for stability, safety and specialist support for young people who have endured so much. We thank all those who help us make this work possible: from our experienced clinicians and caseworkers to our fundraising and admin teams who keep the day to day flowing.
