A few words about me

Hello!!! I’m Aoko. I recently graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA in International Relations and Development. During my studies, I developed a strong passion for community work and the important role that supportive networks play in helping marginalised communities thrive. I really enjoy eating good food, charity shopping and the occasional swim.

What does your role at Baobab involve?

As a Volunteer Fundraising Assistant, I support the fundraising team by researching potential donors and helping to write grant applications. I thoroughly enjoy the work I do and am proud to play a part in helping Baobab continue its work. Volunteering here has given me the opportunity to support services that help people find safety, stability, and a sense of belonging.

What is your desert island book or music?

For Book, I would have to say what I’m currently reading which is Native Son by Richard Wright. And for Music it has to be anything R&B, Neo-Soul, Dancehall and Hip-Hop.

What 3 words would you use to describe Baobab? 

Kind-hearted, Supportive and Welcoming.
