Volunteer - Escorts for children attending psychotherapy sessions

Volunteer – Counselling/Psychotherapy

Once we are fully established in our new premises we will need experienced clinical volunteers to be involved in individual psychotherapeutic work and possibly group work.  

We are looking for experienced child and adolescent psychotherapists (at least five years post qualification) who would be interested in doing long-term work (minimum 2 years) with young asylum seekers and refugees. We are also looking for child and adolescent mental health specialists, in particular child and adolescent psychiatrists and psychologists, who would be interested in preparing reports for the asylum jurisdiction and the High Court.

We already run fortnightly clinical supervision groups for workers and plan to develop a separate group focusing on report writing.  


Volunteer – General


Volunteers are required to help develop and promote the Baobab Centre for Young Survivors in Exile.

At the present time we are particularly interested in hearing from potential volunteers who have experience in welfare benefits, housing advice, and careers advice, preferably if you have worked with refugees in the recent past.

We are also looking for volunteer teachers specialising in teaching particularly Maths and English to those for whom English is a second or third language and who need help with grammar, writing and current mathematical issues.

We would also like to hear from volunteers who have experience in writing successful funding proposals.

We will arrange to meet and interview all volunteers.  A CRB check will be required for all Baobab volunteers and guidance and support will be given on our child protection and vulnerable adults policies.
